Discovering Tánh Linh

I’ve been in Tánh Linh for almost a month now, and I think it’s time to tell you more about this place located in the mountains.

Tánh Linh is beautifully surrounded by green hills, about two hours by bus from Phan Thiết. The town isn’t big, but it has everything you could need: markets full of fruits and vegetables, small grocery stores, restaurants, and plenty of coffee shops. Here it is often sunny in the morning and rainy in the afternoon (during rainy saison).

The food is a highlight of life here. It’s simple, tasty, and affordable. Some of my favorite dishes so far are Bánh Canh, a thick noodle soup with fish; Nui, a local version of macaroni; and Bún Mọc, a light and flavorful pork noodle soup. Everything is freshly made and full of flavor.

If you ever come here, I would definitely recommend

La Garden, a peaceful café and restaurant with a large open-air space, open from 7 am to 10 pm.

Quan An Bún Mọc is another great spot, serving one of my favorite soups. And if you’re looking for a quiet café to work or cool down,

Bistro 38 is a nice option with good Wi-Fi and air conditioning.

On weekends, I’ve been exploring the surroundings. I went back to Phan Thiết for the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is always full of lights and energy,

and I also visited Thác Bà Waterfall, a calm and beautiful spot hidden in nature, perfect for a short bike trip. You can rest in the shadow or swim in the stream beneath the waterfall.

The landscapes around Tánh Linh are stunning; rice fields, mountains covered in mist, and gorgeous clouds.

There aren’t many foreigners here, so as a Belgian intern, I often attract some curious looks and friendly greetings. People are very welcoming, even if we don’t share a language, there’s always a smile, a gesture, or a little help when needed.

Life in Tánh Linh moves at a slower pace. The mornings start early, the nights are quiet, and the air feels fresh and calm.
