This guide is for future interns and volunteers who want to share their experience at Thiện Chí Center by writing blog posts. It may look a bit technical at first, but don’t worry, once you do it once, it becomes very easy!

Step 1: Write your blog post

Start by writing your text in Word or Google Docs. Share whatever you find interesting: your day, a visit, your thoughts, or reflections. Don’t hesitate to be personal.

Step 2: Log in

Use the username and password provided to you.

Step 3: Switch language (optional)

If possible, switch the website into your own language. If not, just follow the instructions below (in Vietnamese).

Step 4: Add a new article

  1. In the menu, select “Quản lý bài viết” (Article Management).
  2. Click “+ Thêm mới bài viết” (Add New Article).
  3. In “Thể loại” (Category), select: VISITOR BLOG.
  4. In “Tình trạng” (Approval Status), select: Đã duyệt (Approved).
  5. Nothing else is needed in this section.

Step 5: Fill in content

  • You will write in both sections:
    • Thông tin Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese information)
    • Thông tin Tiếng Anh (English information)

Even if you only write in English, paste it into both sections. This ensures your blog shows up on both the Vietnamese and English versions of the site.

  • Add your title → use clear keywords so your post can be found more easily.
  • Add a short summary → just a couple of sentences.
  • Then paste your full text into the “Chi tiết” (Details) section. This is where the main article goes.

Step 6: Add photos

  1. Upload your photos.
  2. Choose a cover picture by clicking the little circle below the image (“Là hình đại diện” = set as avatar).
  3. To insert pictures inside your article, copy them from the lower right corner of the uploaded image and paste them into the Chi tiết (Details) section with your text.

Step 7: Save first

  • Click “Thêm mới” (Add new).

Step 8: Adjust pictures

  • Go back to the Chi tiết (Details) section with your text
  • To resize pictures : right-click → “Thuộc tính của ảnh” (Image properties).
    • Horizontal: Chiều rộng (width) = 250 / Chiều cao (height) = 333
    • Vertical: Chiều rộng (width) = 188 / Chiều cao (height) = 250
  • To place photos with your text: select → “Thuộc tính của ảnh”“Vị trí” (Location) → choose “trái” (left) or “phải” (right).
  • Do this in both the Vietnamese and English sections (you can copy past)

Step 9: Update and check

  • Once your images are arranged, click “Cập nhật” (Update).
  • Visit the Thiện Chí website to make sure everything looks good.

Step 10: Edit later (if needed)

To modify or delete a post:

  1. Go back to the account → menu → “Danh sách bài viết” (List of articles).
  2. Click the little pen next to the article you want to edit.
  3. Make your changes or delete if necessary.

That’s it! Once you’ve done it once, posting becomes quick and simple. Hopefully, this little guide helps make sharing your experience smooth and easy.

Phan Thiết is a lively coastal city where food and culture meet. From phở and bánh mì to fresh dragon fruit, every meal is an experience. Between bustling markets, oceanfront cafés, Cham towers, and a quick trip to Mũi Né’s sand dunes, there’s always something new to discover.

Today I visited three families with Nguyen Thuan. The first faced severe health problems and heavy medical costs but now benefit from NGO support through microcredit and crowdfunding. The second, a single mother with two daughters, struggles to cover university fees and relies on small trade and NGO assistance. The third, a couple with two young daughters (one with a heart condition), receive scholarships and economic support, which helped them build a safer home. In the afternoon, I worked on donor research, my blog, and social media.

Today I attended the opening ceremony of the school year at Ham Thuan Nam High School, a prestigious school with 1,500 students. The event was highly symbolic, with flag parades, patriotic songs, speeches, and the distribution of many scholarships, including twenty from Thien Chi. Scholarships are crucial at this stage, as education costs often push families to withdraw their children from school. What stood out most to me was the strong sense of pride and resilience among students and teachers, all focused on building a better future.

On my second day, we visited three families supported by microcredits. One had fully repaid their loan and was now financially stable, another improved their income through dragon fruit farming, and the last struggled with health and financial issues but still benefited from support. I was impressed by the long-term follow-up that ensures families don’t feel left alone.

My first day at the Thien Chi Center started with breakfast with colleagues before visiting several families supported by the NGO. Their stories were difficult but thanks to microcredits and scholarships, they are gradually improving their lives. I was impressed by the NGO’s close follow-up and the presence of community members working part-time to ensure support matches local needs. In the afternoon, I worked on social media posts, funding research, and my internship journal. The day ended with spring rolls and a small city tour with my supervisor. A very meaningful start to this internship!

Arriving in Vietnam

I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of August—hot and humid! After getting a SIM card and using Grab (a must-have app, like Uber), I stayed a few days for the national holiday before heading to Phan Thiet. To reach the Thien Chi Center, you can either take a bus for about €8 (cheaper but less predictable) or a taxi for around €100 (faster but costly). I chose the bus, and despite a bit of waiting, everything went smoothly. Once in Phan Thiet, the Thien Chi director welcomed me and brought me to my homestay.
