In addition to the Community Health program, Thien Chi is targeting students and providing additional programs in schools. Workshops on oral health and sex education are organized and conducted annually in cooperation with the districts' Education & Training (E&T) departments.
The oral health care program is implemented in a total of 86 primary schools and 54 kindergartens, in 3 districts: Tanh Linh, Duc Linh and Ham Thuan Nam. This represents more than 52,000 children and students with better oral health. Now, teachers at the benefiting schools also have deeper knowledge of oral protection, ensuring the sustainability of the program. They can share the good things they learn at school with their parents and siblings. Because oral health is often overlooked by the community, this program can have a lasting impact on the lives of its members.
The sex education program affects 15 participating high schools each year. About 2,000 students learn about sex and gender. Each school sends teachers who will be trained by the Faculty of E&T, then impart knowledge to colleagues. The E&T department still monitors other teachers after teaching. Thien Chi members also came to evaluate the lesson. To do so, they assess children's knowledge of these topics before and after the lesson with a brief exercise. After the program, rankings will be conducted with the Faculty of E&T to award prizes to the best teachers.
