The family of Mrs. Huỳnh Thị Bé Hiện in KP 1, Võ Xu town, is a disadvantaged household participating in Thiện Chí's loan program under the local poor household category. Currently, the family has 7 members, including the couple and their 5 children. The eldest child has just graduated from college, the second is a second-year student at the College of Foreign Affairs, and the remaining three are in high school in Võ Xu.
The couple owns only 2 sao (approximately 1,000 square meters) of rice fields, but the yield from the last harvest was not high due to drought, resulting in low profits. The main laborer in the family is the husband, who works as a construction helper but only gets about 15 days of work each month. The wife, who had a herniated disc surgery 5 years ago, cannot do heavy work and stays at home to do housework and additional tasks like processing lotus seeds.
The family faces severe difficulties, living day to day with insufficient resources, so the group decided to support them with a breeding sow to raise for future breeding. After 8 months of raising the sow, it gave birth to 13 piglets in the first litter. Mrs. Huỳnh sold the piglets for 1,200,000 VND each, earning 15,600,000 VND, and kept the mother pig for further breeding. Thanks to this model, the family has additional income to improve their living conditions and support their children's education.
