Nguyen Ngoc Thanh Tra is a 10th-grade student at Pham Van Dong High School, in the Phuoc Hau Commune.
Tra's father had a traffic accident two years ago, leaving him paralyzed and unable to work. The family is now solely supported by their mother. She takes care of her husband and her four children, trying to keep them in school.
Tra's older sister is currently in her third year at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry. Tra's youngest siblings are in grades 6 and 3.
The cost of supporting Tra's sister's higher education and the education of three younger siblings is quite high each year.
