Nhi and Ánh's family lives in Phước Vinh commune and consists of four members: parents and two sisters. The elder sister is Nguyễn Lâm Yến Nhi, 15 years old, and in 10th grade; the younger sister is Nguyễn Lâm Ngọc Ánh, 10 years old, and in 5th grade. Due to difficult circumstances, the parents often had conflicts and were awaiting a divorce resolution from the court. While waiting, the father showed signs of jealousy, suspecting the mother of having a new lover, leading him to kill the mother and then commit suicide. The tragic loss of both parents has left a great pain for the two young children who are still in school.
Without their parents to care for them, the two sisters had to move in with their elderly grandmother. Thanks to the contributions and assistance from local authorities and neighbors, the grandmother buys and sells candies to earn extra income to raise the two orphaned children. The difficult situation makes the grandmother worry about not having enough money for the two children to go to school, and she fears that the elder child might have to drop out to help her earn money to support the younger sibling's education. The family really wants the support of 300,000 VND from sponsors so that Nhi and Anh can continue to go to school and their grandmother has a little more capital to do business.
