Nguyen Thi Tra Giang – Grade 5, Tanh Linh District - Applying for a scholarship
Nguyen Thi Tra Giangccis a maternal orphan girl since the age of 2. She is studying in 5th grade this school year. At home, she lives with an older brother who is in grade 6 and elderly grandmother. After having a stroke, her grandmother also suffered from a heart disease. She is unable to work, so she takes care of house and her grandson. Her father, the breadwinner of the family, has to work far away from home. He sends money to support the whole family every month. IN the last 2 years, his job situation has been unstable and he found himself unemployed often. Despite the father's helps, the grandmother and children mainly depend on the monthly social subsidy of 31$.
Despite the family's hardships, both Giang and her brother are diligent students and often assist their grandmother with housework. They hope to receive sponsorship scholarship for Nguyen Thi Tra Giang in 5th grade.
