Staff from Thiện Chí Center, along with a teacher from Thuận Quý Primary and Secondary School, recently visited the home of Trần Bảo Uyên, born in 2015 and currently a student at the school. Her family has only three members. Uyên’s mother left when she was just four months old. Since then, her father has shouldered the responsibility of raising his daughter and caring for his elderly mother alone.
Uyên’s father is the sole breadwinner, working as a hired mechanic. However, the work is unstable and irregular. The family has no land for farming. After many years of saving, they managed to buy a small plot and built a temporary house for the three of them to live in.
Uyên is now in 4th grade. Every day, her father takes her to school because the family doesn’t even have a bicycle. He shared that life is becoming increasingly difficult, but for the sake of his daughter and aging mother, he works tirelessly to provide for the family and ensure his child can continue her education.
Due to their challenging situation, the family hopes to receive monthly support of 300,000 VND (about 12 USD) so that little Uyên can stay in school and pursue her dreams.
