Nguyen Bich Tran's family is classified as a poor household in the local community, consisting of six members: her parents, Tran and her younger sibling, who are entering Grade 8 and Grade 5 respectively, and her elderly grandparents. The family owns no farmland. Tran's grandfather suffered a stroke and has been bedridden for years, relying on a monthly social allowance of VND 1,700,000. Her grandmother is elderly and in poor health.
The family's main source of income comes from Tran's father, who works as a freelance pig transport driver. However, his work is irregular and unstable. Her mother earns a small income by doing garment piecework at home while also caring for the elderly and taking the children to and from school, leaving her little time to work. With support from Thien Chi Center, the family has rented two sào (approximately 2,000 m²) of rice fields to improve their livelihood, but their income remains insufficient to meet basic needs.
Their hardship is made even greater by Tran's physical disability. She was born with a deformity in her leg, and because her leg bones are weak, she falls frequently and has suffered multiple fractures. Her right leg is now about 10 centimeters shorter than her left, making walking extremely difficult. During the last school year alone, Tran broke her leg twice, forcing her to miss school for extended periods and study online, which significantly affected her academic performance. Despite these challenges, she remains determined to continue her education. Whenever she is at home, she helps her mother trim loose threads from garments to earn a little extra income for the family.
As she prepares to enter Grade 8 at Le Thanh Tong Secondary School, Tran dreams of continuing her education, but her family's financial hardship threatens her ability to stay in school.
Her family sincerely appeals to kind-hearted donors to sponsor a monthly scholarship of VND 300,000 for Nguyen Bich Tran. This support will help her purchase books, school supplies, and other learning materials, allowing her to continue her education while easing part of her family's financial burden.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for your kindness, compassion, and generous support
