Phong's family is a poor local household, there are 7 people in the family, his parents work as farmers and work as hired laborers to raise their children. Currently, there are 4 children in school: Phong is in 7th grade, Do is in 3rd grade, Tuyet and Tuyet Nhi are in Kindergarten. And Thuy Tien is a special education student who is a slow learner and was intervened by Thien Chi through a community learning meeting program during elementary school. Thuy Tien studied until 9th grade but was unable to continue studying so she dropped out of school. Currently staying at home to help my mother with housework and taking my younger brother to school.
In 2015, the family borrowed from Thien Chi Center and has so far completed 19 loan rounds, currently borrowing 5,000,000 VND to grow 3 acres of rice and 2 acres of peanuts. The family's current income comes from rice and bean farming. Phong's father has Asthma and is supported by the center to see a doctor and take medicine, but the disease has not been controlled. Phong's father can work for light jobs.
The family still has many difficulties in making a living and sending their children to school, so Thien Chi feels that it is too difficult for the family to apply for a scholarship of 300,000 VND/month for Phong so that he can go to school.
