We visited Nguyen Minh Duc's family in Dong Tan village, Dong Ha commune, Duc Linh district, Binh Thuan province. Thuong's family is a poor local household. There are 5 people in the house. Parents, Duc and 2 younger siblings are all school age.
The family has no fields, only 400 square meters of garden to live in, raise pigs and grow grass for cows. Temporary housing is cramped because there is no money to build a house. My grandparents gave me a house of less than 20 square meters that can fit 2 beds, living room, and kitchen are all in front of the porch. Because they live in an overcrowded environment and lack food, they suffer from malnutrition.
Duc's mother has a heart condition and is 6 months pregnant, so she doesn't do heavy work, only takes her children to school and raises pigs. All family expenses depend on Father's labor. Everyone is hired to do whatever they want, but there is no regular work, and they also cut grass to raise two cows, so the family's income is only 1,008,000 VND/month. /People
The family hopes that Goodwill and benefactors will support Nguyen Minh Duc's child, who is studying in grade 5C at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Primary School, with a monthly scholarship of 300,000 VND to create conditions for the family to support the children in school.
