What Thien Chi Center does

Thien Chi Center is a Vietnamese social organization that works with poor rural communities in Binh Thuan (Ham Thuan Nam, Tanh Linh and Duc Linh districts), giving priority to women and children. Many low-income households in our project areas need money to start or grow a small business, but cannot qualify for a bank loan.

We provide small loans of 2–5 million VND, followed by practical training in farming and livestock. Our staff visit each household every month to help the business succeed. After six months, once the family is earning from it, the loan is repaid and lent again to the next family.

Through the project "Economic development for poor rural women through capital, capacity building and access to healthcare (2025–2028)", funded by the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), we also train women to strengthen their skills and improve their family's health.

Our partner: Mekong Quilts

Handicrafts are another way women in rural Vietnam earn a living close to home. Mekong Quilts, a social enterprise founded in 2001, provides fair, home-based work for more than 100 women artisans in villages of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Some Mekong Quilts workshops are located in the communities where Thien Chi works. Each quilt, water-hyacinth bag or papier-mâché piece is handmade from natural, locally sourced materials.

"Every item purchased is a gift that gives twice."

Mekong Quilts is a social enterprise of Mekong Plus NGO and is independent from Thien Chi Center.
