Medical support #22: Tran Van Phien

Mr. Phiên was born in 1982. His family consists of himself, his wife, and two children. The eldest child is studying hairdressing, and the second child is in the third grade. His wife sells goods as a street vendor, bearing all the household burdens alone. The family is considered poor in the local community. Their current monthly income is 979,000 Vietnamese dong.

In 2016, Mr. Phiên was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, and since then, he has been undergoing dialysis. He undergoes dialysis at Đức Linh Hospital three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. He has health insurance (BHYT), which covers the cost of dialysis, but he still needs to buy medication for anemia, dialysis filters, and cover transportation expenses. His monthly expenses amount to 5 million Vietnamese dong.

His kidney disease has led to complications in his liver and heart. His liver is inflamed, and he has a condition where two to three of his heart valves are defective. Due to frequent dialysis, his body accumulates urea, leading to numbness and joint pain in his limbs.

Mr. Phiên has been suffering from kidney disease for nine years now, and his family has had to sell their farmland to cover his medical expenses, leaving them financially depleted. The family is in urgent need of support and assistance from charitable individuals to continue his treatment. We hope the community can support him over the next three years with a sum of 200 million dong so that he can continue his treatment.
