Ms. Đoàn Thị Sang’s family resides in Đông Hà Commune, Đức Linh District. Previously classified as a near-poor household with financial difficulties, they were able to join the loan program in March 2017. Before participating in the program, the family's economic situation was extremely challenging. They had four family members — a couple and two young children. The family owned four sào (approximately 1,440 square meters) of farmland for growing corn, but often faced poor harvests due to low productivity and the lack of funds to invest in fertilizers and pesticides. Besides working on their farm, Ms. Sang’s husband also took on temporary jobs, but employment was unstable. Moreover, he suffered from chronic back pain and was unable to do heavy labor, while Ms. Sang had to take care of the children’s schooling, resulting in a family income of only 459,000 VND per person per month.

Upon joining the loan program, the family also received technical support through agricultural training sessions and funding assistance to purchase fertilizers and pesticides to invest in corn and rice farming, which significantly improved their crop yields. Ms. Sang’s husband received health insurance support for his treatment, leading to improved health, and enabling him to take on heavier work such as masonry, pesticide spraying, and fertilizer application. Consequently, the family’s income increased.

Gradually, they used their savings to build additional parts of their home, such as an extra bedroom. By June 2024, with additional loans, their own savings, and a 12 million VND grant from Thiện Chí Center, they were able to build a living room worth 150 million VND, making their home more comfortable for family life.

Thanks to the couple's efforts, willingness to learn, and the proper use of the loan from Thiện Chí, their productivity improved and they achieved a stable income of 1,742,000 VND per person per month. Currently, the family enjoys a stable life, has been able to purchase furniture, a vehicle, and is able to provide proper education for their two children (one in grade 10 and the other in grade 7). The family is very happy and deeply grateful to Thiện Chí Center for the financial and technical support that has helped them build the life they have today.

Detecting refractive errors in primary school students plays a vital role in protecting and developing children's vision. At this age, their eyes are still in the process of maturing. If refractive errors such as myopia (nearsightedness) or astigmatism are not identified and corrected in time, they may lead to serious consequences like permanent vision loss, which can significantly affect a child’s learning ability and overall development. Early detection allows timely intervention through appropriate eyewear or vision training, helping children study more effectively and improving their quality of life.

Autism is not a disease—it's a neurodevelopmental disorder, specifically known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Why isn’t it called a "disease"? Not caused by viruses or bacteria: Autism is not an infectious disease like the flu or dengue fever. No definitive cure through medication: Since it's not a disease, autism cannot be "cured" with medicine. However, with appropriate interventions, children can show significant improvements.
