Lan’s family used to live in Nha Trang but moved to Trà Tân, Đức Linh District three years ago due to high living costs and having many children. The family consists of six members: the couple and their four school-aged children.

Currently, they are staying in a relative’s house and using borrowed household items, with no farmland of their own. The father is the main breadwinner, earning about 10 million VND per month from car repair work, but the job is irregular. Two years ago, he had a traffic accident that left him with a fractured left collarbone, requiring screws that are still inside his body due to the family’s inability to afford a second surgery. He also suffers from liver-related issues and persistent itching but cannot afford medical treatment. The mother stays home to take care of the children and earns a little extra by making plastic flowers when there are orders.

Ánh Kim, their eldest daughter, just finished grade 3. She has poor eyesight, and reading or doing homework is difficult for her—she has to bend close to her books to see clearly. Despite this, she tries her best to keep up with her studies. During a school eye screening organized by Thiện Chí Center, her vision problems were discovered. Due to the family’s hardship, the center provided her with a pair of eyeglasses to support her learning and daily life.

Since receiving the glasses, Kim wears them regularly. Her academic performance has improved significantly, earning her several achievements. She even helps her mother make plastic flowers to support the family income.

Kim is very happy and grateful for the eyeglasses. She sincerely thanks Thiện Chí Center and promises to study hard to live up to the kindness she has received.

Detecting refractive errors in primary school students plays a vital role in protecting and developing children's vision. At this age, their eyes are still in the process of maturing. If refractive errors such as myopia (nearsightedness) or astigmatism are not identified and corrected in time, they may lead to serious consequences like permanent vision loss, which can significantly affect a child’s learning ability and overall development. Early detection allows timely intervention through appropriate eyewear or vision training, helping children study more effectively and improving their quality of life.

Not caused by viruses or bacteria: Autism is not an infectious disease like the flu or dengue fever. No definitive cure through medication: Since it's not a disease, autism cannot be "cured" with medicine. However, with appropriate interventions, children can show significant improvements.
