It can be used to purchase livestock, invest in a small garden, buy materials for a small business, or start work that suits the family’s abilities.
At Thien Chi Center, the microcredit program aims to provide disadvantaged households with additional resources to develop their livelihoods and gradually become more self-reliant. The credit funds provided to support these households are sponsored by Mekong Plus.
Some families previously relied mainly on seasonal work, with unstable incomes while having to cover daily living expenses and their children’s education. When they receive access to capital, they begin to ask themselves: “What can I do with this money to generate additional income?”
Although the amount may be modest, when used effectively, it can become the first livestock, a vegetable garden, a small batch of goods, or a tool for work. These small investments can create an additional source of income and gradually reduce the family’s dependence on assistance.
The program is not only about providing capital. Thien Chi Center also accompanies families throughout the process, visiting them, listening to their concerns, and sharing the challenges they face. We believe that giving a family the opportunity to generate its own income also gives them greater confidence and faith in their ability to improve their lives.
Repaying a loan does not mark the end of the journey. The capital can continue to revolve, creating opportunities for another family.
