Building a Smoke-Free Community Together

Tobacco smoke is one of the leading causes of respiratory diseases, cardiovascular illnesses, and cancer. It affects not only smokers but also those around them through secondhand smoke, especially children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with existing respiratory conditions. Creating a smoke-free environment is therefore essential to protecting public health.

To raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco and encourage healthier lifestyles, Thien Chi Center has been actively organizing community awareness activities. During the first six months of the year, the Center conducted four tobacco prevention awareness sessions with the participation of 132 community members. These sessions provided practical information on the health risks of smoking and secondhand smoke, the benefits of quitting tobacco, and the importance of each individual's role in creating a healthier, smoke-free community.

In addition to awareness activities, Thien Chi Center carried out assessments and provided asthma medication and health insurance support for 10 people suffering from respiratory-related illnesses. This assistance helps vulnerable families access healthcare services, reduce medical expenses, and improve their overall quality of life.

Protecting community health begins with small actions from each of us. By saying no to tobacco and promoting smoke-free environments, we can create a healthier future for ourselves, our families, and the next generation. Thien Chi Center remains committed to working with local communities to build a safer, healthier, and smoke-free society.
