Lan’s family used to live in Nha Trang. Because of high living expenses with many children, they moved to Hamlet 5, Trà Tân Commune, Đức Linh District three years ago. The family has six members: the couple and four children who are all in school (Lê Ngọc Ánh Kim will enter grade 4, Lê Ngọc Cát Tường grade 2, Lê Dương An Khang grade 1, and Lê Hoàng Quân kindergarten).

They are currently staying in a relative’s house and have no farmland. The husband is the main breadwinner, working as a car mechanic with an income of about 10 million VND per month, but the job is unstable. Two years ago, he had a traffic accident that fractured his collarbone. Metal screws remain in his body since he has not had money for surgery to remove them. He also suffers from a liver condition causing constant itching but cannot afford treatment. The wife takes care of the children’s schooling and occasionally makes plastic flowers when there are orders. Despite their efforts, the family’s income is still insufficient, and life remains difficult.

As the new school year approaches, the family worries about not having money for books and uniforms for the children, especially since the father has been unemployed for over a month. Fortunately, little Lê Ngọc Cát Tường received support of 500,000 VND from a benefactor to buy textbooks and a study desk for the children. The family was very grateful and happy. The children promised to study hard to live up to the kindness of those who have supported them.
