World No Tobacco Day (May 31) aims to protect the current and future generations from
the severe health consequences of smoking, as well as the negative impacts on the economy, environment, and society caused by tobacco use and secondhand smoke.
Recognizing the importance of this issue, Thien Chi Center - Ham Thuan Nam Project collaborated with the Ham Thuan Nam District Committee to organize a cycling race around Ta Cu Mountain on May 20, with the goal of raising awareness and urging people to quit harmful smoking habits.
The race was grandly staged, attracting approximately 1,600 students from Tan Thanh, Tan Thuan, and Thuan Quy communes. Additionally, over 500 local residents joined in to cheer on the participants, alongside 120 athletes taking part in the race. This successful event created a festive atmosphere and aimed to contribute to changing the smoking behavior of many individuals in society.
Alongside the competition of strength and skills during the race, the main message of the event was to raise awareness about the negative impacts of smoking and call for collective efforts to end tobacco use. The race provided a valuable platform for people to interact, share experiences, and gain a deeper understanding of the significance of a smoke-free life.
Thien Chi Center - Ham Thuan Nam Project, in collaboration with the Ham Thuan Nam District People's Committee, hopes that through activities like this cycling race, awareness of the hazards of smoking will be spread, and more people will actively participate in the shared battle against smoking, contributing to building a healthy and smoke-free society.
Let us all join together in observance of World No Tobacco Day to create a brighter, smoke-free future for the world.
