Eco-friendly Pigsties – An Effective and Sustainable Farming Solution

The eco-friendly pigsty model is not only a place for raising pigs but also brings economic, environmental, and agricultural benefits to farming households, especially after each livestock cycle.

Increasing income from organic fertilizer
After selling pigs, farmers can collect nutrient-rich organic fertilizer made from a combination of biochar, rice husks, and treated pig manure. This fertilizer reduces odors, limits pollution, and has high economic value. For example, Ms. Liền’s household in Nam Thành (Lâm Đồng) harvested 103 bags of fertilizer and sold them to vegetable growers, generating extra income without significant additional costs.

Improving soil and boosting crop yield
The organic fertilizer from eco-friendly pigsties enhances soil by improving water and nutrient retention while fostering beneficial microorganisms. As a result, crops—particularly leafy vegetables such as cabbage—grow stronger, with higher yields and better quality.

Protecting the environment and reducing costs
Treating manure directly in the pigsty minimizes air, water, and soil pollution while saving farmers the expense of building complex waste treatment systems. Waste is transformed into valuable products, creating a closed, sustainable production cycle.

Thus, the eco-friendly pigsty model stands out as a smart farming solution, helping farmers increase income, protect the environment, and achieve long-term economic growth.
