Microcredit

Microcredit is one of the core activities of the Thiện Chí Center, fully aligned with its mission to strengthen communities and help them solve their own problems. Each loan is granted only after a careful assessment of the family’s situation, and it must always serve as an investment to generate income. Families with a clear plan for how to use the capital are more likely to receive support. Alongside the loans, training programs are provided so people can learn how to manage their money effectively and improve their economic activities, which also helps reduce investment risks.

Each loan cycle lasts six months. During this time, Thiện Chí employees visit families monthly to ensure everything is going smoothly. The center also works closely with local authorities and village workers, who keep them informed about each family’s progress. Everything is designed to maximize the loan’s chances of success.

The first loan is usually modest, ranging from 2,000,000 to 5,000,000 VND ($75–$190), depending on the family’s project.

After each cycle, a decision is made whether to renew or increase the loan. The ultimate goal is for every family member’s average income to reach at least 1,200,000–1,500,000 VND per month (around $2 per person per day). Reaching this threshold gives the family credibility with traditional banks, making it easier to access larger loans in the future.
