Small Loans, Big Changes for Rural Women

Through the economic empowerment project for women funded by the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), the Thien Chi Center has provided small loans ranging from VND 5 million to VND 10 million to disadvantaged women in Ham Kiem Commune, Binh Thuan Province (now Lam Dong Province) to support income-generating activities and improve their livelihoods.

Although modest in size, these loans have helped many families overcome immediate financial difficulties and invest in crop production, livestock raising, and other small-scale economic activities. As a result, participating women have gained more opportunities to increase their income, improve their living conditions, and become more financially independent in supporting their families.

The project has now been implemented for more than one year. Throughout this period, Thien Chi Center staff and community volunteers have conducted monthly home visits to monitor the use of the loans and accompany families on their livelihood development journey. During these visits, the women have enthusiastically shared both the challenges and successes they have experienced, as well as the positive changes the project has brought to their households.

The continuous support provided through the project, together with the funding from OIF, has not only strengthened household economies but has also given rural women greater confidence and motivation to build a more stable and sustainable future for themselves and their families.
