Today, after 4.5 months of dedicated visits and guidance, the family successfully raised three piglets by mixing bran with fermented bananas using Emzeo probiotics and giving them probiotic water daily. The pigs are now healthy, robust, and ready for sale.

The family of Mr. Vu and Mrs. Linh is one of the particularly disadvantaged households supported by the Thien Chi Center in Duc Linh District, Binh Thuan Province. Despite their challenging circumstances and many children of school age, Thien Chi stepped in to provide technical support, repair their pigsty, and closely accompany them to ensure the pigs thrived and were fit for sale.

Their eldest son, the primary caretaker of the pigs, diligently fed them, prepared fermented bananas, and cleaned the pigsty every day. During a visit, he expressed his gratitude: “Our family is very thankful to Uncle Huynh and Aunt Hang for helping us raise pigs so we could earn extra money for my siblings’ education and support my parents.”

After deducting expenses for feed, vaccines, breeding, and probiotics, the family earned a profit of over 4 million VND from selling the pigs. This income has significantly contributed to improving their livelihood. Most importantly, the eldest son has now mastered pig-raising techniques.

In addition to this support, Thien Chi provides monthly scholarships and covers the annual school fees for their three school-aged children.

Thanks to the family’s hard work in fermenting bananas and combining them with feed, the pigs were raised profitably even during a time when corn feed prices are high.

Thien Chi Center continually strives to find effective methods to help farmers reduce costs, improve animal immunity, and maximize profits. Moreover, the pork from these pigs has received praise for its excellent quality and taste.

When speaking with the mother, we learned that her child faced challenges in participating at school and exhibited behaviors that made it difficult for the school to accept him. After consulting a doctor, the child was diagnosed with pervasive developmental disorder and delayed language development. His vocabulary was very limited, and his speech was unclear. He would cry and scream persistently when something displeased him and often said, “Oh no.” When he wanted something, he would pull someone’s hand and point, leaving strangers unable to understand him. The child’s developmental level was assessed to be equivalent to 19 months old.

We started working with children with special educational needs in 2008. At that time, we focused on capacity building for primary school teachers and established the "Hạnh Phúc" intervention room, where children with difficulties in school received support with life skills and learning outside of regular classroom hours. In 2012, we began visiting individual families to teach children literacy and numeracy and organized group sessions on social skills, a program known as the "Community Learning Box." In 2017, we initiated direct intervention at the center for hearing-impaired children—this served as a precursor to our current intervention program where parents bring their children to the center weekly. In 2018, we joined the "Narrowing the Gap" program of LIN and secured funding to begin "early intervention"

One afternoon, we visited the family of Trần Đức Phương Trinh. Both her mother and Trinh recognized us immediately, even though many years had passed since our last meeting. Her approachable demeanor and familiar face stood out on the now 19-year-old girl. Trinh had been part of the special education intervention program since 2013. She had learning difficulties and tongue-tie, causing her to have a speech impediment. Every time we had conversations during the intervention, she would drool, and her hands would always sweat. She struggled to write each letter and to pronounce every syllable, making her efforts heartwarming and inspiring.

Ms. Nguyễn Thị Lành lives in Hamlet 7 - Nam Chính - Đức Linh - Bình Thuận. In the past, whenever I visited her, she would always complain about everything: "Oh dear, I feel so much pain, dizziness, constant fatigue, I can't eat..." But that day, when I visited her home, it was different from all the other times. There she was, with a fresh, cheerful, and lively face.

Mr. Hoàng An Hải - Đông Hà: "Without health insurance, I was always worried, afraid of getting sick. Every time I got sick, I tried to push through, but the more I worried, the worse the illness became. Whenever I got sick, I would buy some painkillers just to get by. Many times, I didn’t dare go for a check-up, fearing they’d discover more illnesses. I sincerely thank the Center for providing me with health insurance."
