Thien Chi Center Continues Organic Composting to Support Local Households

To support households in developing sustainable agricultural practices and reducing farming costs, Thien Chi Center continues to implement organic composting activities to supply participants in local livelihood programs.

Unlike models that involve direct participation from community members in the composting process, this activity is carried out entirely by the Center’s staff, from material preparation and mixing to monitoring and finalizing the compost. This proactive approach ensures product quality, proper techniques, and timely distribution for agricultural use.

The materials are sourced from locally available agricultural by-products and livestock manure, combined with biological agents to produce safe organic fertilizer. This helps improve soil quality and supports better crop growth. Through this initiative, the Center aims to gradually reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers while promoting environmentally friendly and cost-effective farming practices.

In addition to providing organic fertilizer, the Center’s staff also monitor its application at the household level to assess its effectiveness on crops. Initial feedback from some households shows improved soil conditions and more stable plant growth.

Organic composting is one of the long-term livelihood support strategies that Thien Chi Center continues to implement across project areas. With a commitment to sustainable community development, the Center not only provides immediate support but also works toward building practical solutions tailored to local conditions.
