Not only does she battle illness, but she also tries to make ends meet by cultivating a small dragon fruit farm and producing handicrafts for additional income. However, these efforts are insufficient for her and her son to live a stable life.
In August 2022, she worsened when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
She underwent multiple costly radiation therapies, 15 million VND each. Despite completing seven treatments, she faces a new challenge with the eighth due to health and financial constraints. To cover treatment costs and periodic check-ups, she had to borrow 20 million VND with a monthly interest of 1 million VND.
Ms. Rot's journey has been an arduous one, battling a debilitating disease. These treatments have only taken a financial toll on her and a heavy emotional one aswell.
